got a pentax 100mm macro! woohoooo!!!!
Nikon D700 in all it's glory!
On Friday I got myself a new Acratech GP ball head.
I've been dreaming of getting one for a while now, and finally bit the bullet.
What a fantastic piece of engineering.
So small and light, yet so amazingly strong. It only weighs 400 grams!
Mounted my 60D, 100-400L lens, 2X converter and a flash, and it doesn't budge a mm even when held at a stupid angle.
Good American engineering at its best.
All my photos are taken with recycled pixels.

Just ordered a "DiCAPac WP-S5" underwater case for my camera
Hoping I can pick it up soon! Going up to Nelson Bay next week and really wanting to spend a lot of time at the beach =P
Decided to "shave" my signature ;]
Now mostly shoots with: Canon 5D MK3 & Canon 24-70 f/2.8/50mm f/1.8 (also have a 550D with a variety of lenses/goodies and a Sony Nex-5N)
PP with: Lightroom only, Photoshop is merely a 9-5 work tool for me.

Nikon D5100 | Nikon D7100 | Bits and pieces. | Some glass here and there.
Early xmas pressie too - A spyder 3 monitor colour calibrator. Now I though it was just colours that were for calibration. Since calibrating I realise that the adjustment affect a variety of the display, contrast, a fast range of colour tones etc Man it has made a difference.
Please be honest with your Critique of my images. I may not always agree, but I will not be offended - CC assists my learning and is always appreciate

Canon 5D3 - Gripped, EF 70-200 L IS 2.8 MkII, , 24-105 L 4 IS MkI, 580 EX II Speedlite, 2x 430 Ex II Speedlite
Probably not really worth a "Whoo" as that would be for those who just got $8000 L series lenses, but when you have a budget like mine, even a genuine Gorilla Pod with Ball Head is worthy of note. Thanks to my daughter via Christmas. Now to throw away the $3.00 ebay cheapie that isn't even worth $3.00
Canon EOS 60D ..... EFS 18-200mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS - 430 EXII Speedlite - "eBay special" Remote Control Unit - Manfrotto 190XPROB w 804RC2 head.
Just clicked the purchase button on a new EF 135 f/2.0L...'gulp'...Looking forward to seeing if it lives up to all the good reviews I've read
I now have two Canon Lens style travel Coffee Mugs!
Oh, and for Christmas I got a Slik Sprint Pro 3-Way II Tripod. It goes up to 1.6m tall, and at lowest I think about 20cm high? I'll have to measure that.
And with my camera on top that's just a bit higher than my eye line. Which is weird, I always thought I was taller than 1.6m? I'm very sure I am taller than that haha..
About time I started using decent tripods! I always had cheap $20 ebay ones, they'd last a while but eventually something necessary breaks and that happened to me a few weeks before xmas!

Well done and you will certainly feel the benefit of a better quality tripod. The first thing I noticed was not having to crouch (unless the shot required a low perspective) and I actually have trouble reading the top lcd screen, having to stretch on tip toes. Eye level for general use is perfect. All this without extending the centre column and I'm just on 6' ... All that said the noticable improvement in overall quality & strength gives one a good feeling when taking photos.
Ok, I know this is old equipment, I know I bought it used, I know it is not technically new gear (it is to me!)
Just got myself a WFT-e1 for my canon 5D and 30D. I can now shoot in the lounge room and save the photos up to my PC at the other end of the house.
Wireless image transfer works nicely

Just got myself a Pentax SMC DA 35mm f/2.4 AL lens and a Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD lens. The Tamron is for a walkaround lens as I am off to Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore in about 4 weeks
Well I have spoiled myself lately, a new pc that doesn't stumble when using editing programs cos it has 5x the ram that my laptop had, a new monitor LG IPS 23" that I can actually see the correct colours at a decent size.
Upgraded the 50D to a 7D and a new lens 2 days ago, upgraded from Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM to a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 EX DC OS HSM.
Now I just have to learn to take decents photos
Cheers
