Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM I'll be dreaming for a very very very long time
Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM I'll be dreaming for a very very very long time
Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VRII for me. Soooo want that lens. Would double the price of my current equipment though!
Being an "old" Nikon tragic, my lust is the illusive 55mm 1.2 Noct S.C. Nikkor that occasionally comes up on ebay commanding $3,000+ USD!
I have a Pentax K10D &:-
10-20 Sigma - Takes care of wide angle. I use it a lot. landscapes architecture work 'photo's
18-55 Pentax kit. Camera cover, general shooting.
Pentax M28/2.8. Wherever the field of view is applicable, this one comes out. Everytime.
Pentax Super Tak 50mm f1.4. If I want a good shot at this focal length & I've the time to get it on;it's on.
Pentax Super Tak 135mm f3.5. Same as the above
Tamron Adaptall 2 80-210 f3.8 103A - f4. Principal tele zoom.
Tamron Adaptall 2 70 - 210 f3.5 constant. Regarded as the best of its type & described by another on a manual focus forum, "thinks it's a prime." Tripod only (heavy), planned trips.
Soligur telephoto 400/6.3. Only used to show that it's not a bad lens. Cheap. Stays at home
Tamron Mirror 500mm 55BB f8. Great to use if you're really scared of something you want to photograph. Small & light (still need tripod). Rarely used though but did so this weekend. yet to check out.
So, to answer the question, I think I've reached Lens Nirvana.
I wish you all luck in your quest.
Nikkor 85mm 1.4
leica noctilux 50mm f/0.95... converted to nikon mount of course.
50L, 85L, 135L...
...and Sigma 150-500
7D | 40D | 24-70L | 70-200L 2.8IS | Tamron 18-270mm | Tamron 17-50 2.8 | Sigma 30mm | Canon 50mm 1.8 | 430EXII
Well I've got the holy trinity of Nikon Zooms; the 14-24, 24-70 & 70-200 so all that's left in my lust list is the 200-400 F4.
Be sure to get the 58mm version which is the Noct.
The 55mm version is more common, and far cheaper and nowhere near as good and not designated as a Noct.
The 50mm version is not a bad lens, but I think beaten by the current crop of 50mm f/1.4's.
It's still currently in production, so can be had new, and it's also not designated the Noct name, despite the same fast aperture.
The 58mm Noct is a legend of a lens, and the comparative shots I've seen, against the 50/1.2 seem to indicate that it's almost certainly worth the extra money(if you're pedantic).
But certainly not the US$3K they regularly go for.
lusting over a 50 1.4G! grrrrh. hopefully i think thts the last lens on the lineup tht im lusting over currently
200 F2 or 400 F2.8 or 500 F4
The order in which I lust for these is subject to change without notice.......
