Well after my day of disaster yesterday with breaking my speedlight, tripod and mobile phone all within an hour I went in town today and replaced tripod and phone

Got a Manfroto 055MF4 Magfibre tripod + Manfrotto 488RC2 ballhead + spare plates

And a new Nokia phone..basic unit...see if I can hang onto this one for more than a few months

Phones only handy if it doesn't get wet it seems lol lol

Went to Camera House in the Central Market, Camera House in Grenfell St, Diamonds in Rundle St and finally bought it a Teds in Rundle St .Prices were pretty similar in all shops, but different gear in each, $700.00 all up with legs and ballhead and two plates. Cant wait to try this particular ballhead out, seems to what I'm looking for in a particular price range. Should be extra good for bird photography as it enables me to shoot an image from 90o up and 90o down without remounting the camera, just right for those pesky birds that fly from ground and a split second later are up a tree. The lack of this function in pan tilt heads has often been a problem when speed is of the essence from ground to sky movement.

Now if I can just get a new stable body { , human, both younger and my own } I'll be on a roll....unlike atm the main rolls being around my middle and along the ground when I trip over my own feet as has been the case lately lol lol....I love getting older

Just been in Melbourne for the past three days, so I went to pretty much every camera store I could find

Ended up buying a Gorilla Pod and a RS-60E3 shutter release.

Oh, and Dad got me Photoshop CS3 on Friday. Still have to put in on my computer though.

Cheers mate. I filled out the forms and sent it off, but you have to be shooting for someone, in my case the CircleWork Ezine.

After months of fighting for it, hubby's redundancy payment finally came through so he told me to order my Chrissy/Valentine's/Birthday/Mother's Day present. In the mail are:

Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS, Canon EF 24-105mm f4L IS and a Canon EF 1.4xII Extender.

    Whoo-hoo, I'm a happy vegemite.

Had this little fella arrive at the local store today. Can't wait until the drags tomorrow to try him out!

Gee this lens is made well. The zoom has a great feel to it and the general construction is great, the lens hood is meaty-as. Manual focus has a really short throw, which could be tricky, and lacks a little bit of damping, but it is pretty good.

All in all for just over $600 locally I'm happy.

Will throw the new version of the firmware into the D300 tomorrow and go out for a big day shooting!

My new gear is my Sigma 70-200 2.8

So this year I've bought that, and a EF-S 17-85 IS - which are now my 2 lenses, along with the nifty fifty (the 18-55, 28-80 and 90-300 are now pretty much redundant).

And I bought both from this forum!! Woohoo!!

Now I'm just keeping an eye out for a cheap 2nd hand 40D....
