Anyone have any feedback on the D1000 camera.

Nikon D1000 sounds plausible, but do you mean either one of...
Nikon D100
or
Nikon P1000?
CC, Image editing OK.
Maybe P1000.
plausibility of a D1000 is at the very very unlikely end of the spectrum of possibility.
Market is moving away from DSLR designs and moving to mirrorless types.
So for started Dxxxxxxx's models will only be updates to existing models, D3xxx's and D5xxx's will eventually disappear and turn into Z models(eg. like the Z50 .. maybe a Z3000 or whatever Nikon calls them)
But once their current plans have played out .. no more DSLR low end models from Nikon. Maybe a few years yet.
If OP meant D100 .. very old camera model, still full featured and maybe cheap ... but a D300/s would be a better bet for just a few $s more. D100 would have to be either free, or in perfect condition at say $50-100 or something for it to be worth the effort
If OP meant P1000 .. no idea!
It was in the rumour mill about six years ago but apparently never saw the light of day.

........expect three new Nikon DSLR cameras by the end of the year (the actual announcement could be in the first week of 2014 for the CES show): one full frame camera (probably D4x), one entry level DX model (probably D1000). The third camera is still not clear: it could be anything from a mirrorless to a SLT based or a retro design.
Sorry guys let’s go with the P1000,,,,,,,,,,,,P/D easy to mistake them

Al.
I haven't got any direct experience of it, but the Conclusion section of the
P1000 link above is cautionary about the usefulness of long end of the focal
range, amongst other things.
