Harper, B&H one of the better sites for good gear.

Cannot fault them.

They are good, but as said shipping isn't cheap, but using ups it takes 5 days max from New York to Brisbane. I usually try to spend just on the $1000.00 mark so it makes the postage cost worthwhile.

yeah im dead on the $1000 usd mark and i think the site says that if you spend more then $1000 aud you may have to pay custons duties

And remember that customs duty is not payable on the price you pay, but the Australian price of the item, in the customs database. So if you get something for $1000.00 but its $1440.00 in the Customs database, you pay duty on the $1440.00 AUD price.

BHPhoto are Ausphotography Site Advertisers (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/showthread.php?13499-Ausphotography-Site-Advertisers). If you do want to go that way. Click their banner ad and order. It doesn't cost you any more, but AP gets commission, which helps pay the costs of keeping the site online, and free to you, the members

Ordered a few small things from B&H and I found the prices excellent, and the postage a lot better than Adorama. I bought LPE6 batteries and some SD cards and the post was $25 and arrived in under a week. Gold.

I'm a bit late having just seen this, but on B&H, they are fantastic to deal with.

For any future order where you might buy something larger that carries a huge shipping cost, get it sent to a local US broker UPS ground or whatever far cheaper option offers for that item, and then have it forwarded here by the broker. I have been doing things this way for the past couple of years and it is far cheaper. I landed my Elinchrom Ranger RX Speed AS set in the hard Elinchrom case with 2 batteries etc here with a weight of almost 20kg for less than $200 freight, B&H was almost $400 freight and it was delivered by the same UPS man in 4 days.

Finally, Pocket wizards from the USA operate on different frequencies to the ones sold here, so if you now want to expand and buy more, you will need to buy USA models to ensure compatibility, not to mention the USA spec ones are not approved to operate on that spectrum in Australia. I Initially bought the MiniTT1 & FlexTT5 units from the USA, and then had lots of trouble getting the USA version of the ST4 (although the local version of ST4 was in stock here) for my Ranger, so I ended up selling the USA units and buying all new Aus spec units.

I ordered a Manfrotto Magic arm & clamp from B&H.
Recieved them within a week. Fantastic service and even with the cost of shipping I still managed to save over $100 from local stores.
