Hey guys,

I have been looking at lights for ages and for months was really torn as to which ones would best suit me at the moment. I had pretty much decided to go with the ranger quadras or the rx600 set, but after extensive discussions with they retailer - I finally decided on the elinchrom d-lite to go set. I also bought an extra head, a snoot with grid, a reflector with grid, a deflector set and my big baby - the 135cm Octa.

I have had two sessions shooting with the lights so far and am loving them! Cannot give a full review yet - but initial impressions are great. I'm not sure if I am allowed to post retailer names/comments - but I was really happy with the retailer I ended up buying from - both for price and customer service. If the forum allows then I will give the retailer a small plug too.

I will be posting some of my shots with these lights soon...hopefully you all like them!

Glad you finally decided on something :), no looking back now - have some fun using them.

I have the d-lite 400 and I am very happy with them, but I like my quadra for portability, as I am moving into outsides shoots as well.

Look forward to hearing how you go with the 135 cm octa and the other bits and pieces. I have been buying props, so the accessories have to wait a bit for my lights.

I really don't think you will regret it - Elinchrom are good.

Yeah I figured that the D-lites would be a great place to start and to build from there. I will eventually probably get a couple of RX heads too and use the D-lites for for fills and background lighting. You cant beat the quadras for portability or flash duration, but the W/S were a bit low for my liking. If they one day release quadras at around 600 or 800 w/s - I will be the first one in line!

Great start - you should post in the people forum for cc. It needs a little pop - brighten a little and bit more contrast I think - but this is not for cc.

edit: she is a gorgeous model, like the hat and I like your composition :)

Thanks Shelley. I have posted on the people forum, so will see what everyone thinks. I added some contrast and brightness as you suggested. Thanks for the help! :th3:

Welcome to the Elinchrom user experience.
I have the Elinchrom D Lite it 4 kit, and feel it was one of my best buys.
The kit has many great features without the need for a second mortgage.
Being made in India is not a problem, as the build quality is very good.
The early model would only accept the Elinchrom Umbrella (which have a smaller diameter shaft) - the new model will accept all shafts.
As supplied it is easy to setup and use, all the Elinchrom accessories fit if needed.
For anyone thinking of getting a light kit; the D lite 4 is a great start (IMO).
