I'm currently finding Faststone to be a super editing program for those quick fixes like shadows, highlights and sharpness. It's great for the basics, but the one thing I would love to have, but cannot find, is a noise reduction facility. Does anyone know if there is such a function available using Faststone? And if not, is there another basic/quick/free program for a quick noise reduction fix? Thanks for any help.
I agree, Faststone is fantastic for a free program and very easy to use BUT it doesn't include noise reduction.
Had this link

bookmarked for a while now, but never got around to check it out. Maybe this could be what you are looking for.

Faststone is great and light on computer resources. I gave Adobe Bridge the flick after finding Faststone. I don't edit in Faststone, but use it for file sorting, batch handling resizing etc. It is a pity is doesn't have a noise reduction setting, but hopefully it will in the future.
Most people like Noiseware Community Edition free software for noise reduction. There is also paid version with more features.
To use it, I make a full quality jpg copy of the image I want to denoise, run it through noiseware at the settings I like, then save the filtered image. I then bring this filtered image back into my original file as a LAYER in photoshop. This means I can then choose which bits of the image I want denoised, and which bits I don't.

It is a great program, but very limited for editing in many ways.
I use it as farmax does and mainly for quick quality resizing and quick viewing of images.
They only just added a clone heal tool, so I suspect that one day in the not too distant future they'll also add an NR tool as well.
