Hi guys,
My mum is a teacher and can get me the "student edition" of CS3 for a really good price. Apart from having to provide a student number to Adobe to get the key, is there any difference in the programs, is the "student edition" a full version of CS3?

Cheers,

the only difference is the licence you get; only permitted for educational use (so no commercial use), otherwise everything is exactly the same. if anybody needs EDU versions hit me for pricing ;)

A quick question regarding this.

My sister is a uni student. If she buys student edition packages, and adobe requires a student number to register the program, what happens at the end year when she finishes uni and no longer a student? Will the adobe registration run out cause she is no longer a student?

The other thing to consider is that if you buy the Educational Version you can't just buy the upgrade for future editions you will again need to purchase the whole thing.

I am fairly sure but not 100%

No once you have bought it you can continue to use it but only legally for non-commercial purposes.

There is another issue with the license: you cannot use the student license for the regular upgrade offers from Adobe once a new version is released. Thus, if you now buy CS4, you must pay a new license once CS5 appears.

This is true, but Full student version is still cheaper than upgrading

That is true too Mark, but that is possible only if you still qualify for a student license at the time.
