What an excellent piece of out of the box thinking and engineering.
All too often great ideas are shelved and never get off the ground cos of conservative corporate mentality. I'm glad Lytro has gone pass that now and looks set to ship next year.

Sure the actual camera design is quirky and user interface probably needs refining but this is only version 1.0
I may just have to part with 400 odd dollars to support this startup when they ship.
To really get it off flying, Ren should license his patents to ALL the camera companies and each of them can produce a version of their own.
I'll go further, if the design can be miniaturized enough to fit in camera phones, Apple and Google should pour some big dollars into Lytro to further its development.
