Canon 70-200mk 2

What do you think about the canon 70-200 II
For the money ?
Or can you recommend some thing else for same money.
I'm going to Santorini and uk in sept so I have been saving for a while and looking at a fish eye as well so any help on what to buy would be great.

Bloody great lens! As sharp as some prime lens. Color rendering is great. Versatile if you are into portraits and you have a full frame (I use it on a 1.3x crop and still find it great) Generate smooth, creamy bokeh if you are into shallow DoF. Weather seal is always a plus and build quality is awesome. Focus is darn quick + silent. Last but not least, the 4-stop IS is MUCH better than the gen I IS!!!

Running around with it can hear the IS rattle a little :p It is a heavy lens. And with all of above great features, the RRP in Australia is still a bit of a joke, especially I got my from HK effective under $2K!

If you are into Landscape, maybe also consider one of the Tilt-Shift lens? :) (and I really want one myself :D)

Unless you already have that range covered, I think you'd get a LOT more use out of any 70-200 than you would a fisheye.

Just bought the 70-200mm F2.8 ll and love it.
It's a lot of money but it brings a lot of joy.
I think you would get a lot more use out of it than a fish eye.

as an option..... sigma have a 70-200 2.8. mega quick focus.. image stabilisation. for approx 800 off net or $1000 in store

On a FF like the 5D2 and with a 24-105 already in your pack I would rather go for something with longer reach. When I travel overseas I usually take my 24-105 and my 100-400 with me. Covers most situations. Been to Santorini (http://www.flickr.com/photos/vk2gwk/sets/72157624195465888/) and there the 24-105 was doing the job.

Awsome lens! I swap btw the 70-200 mk2 and the 17-55.... and realise that most of the time the 70-200 stays on as i don't really do much landscapes these days. The extra reach helps a lot with some street shooting.

Thing about fisheye is that there are not many situations that you can effectively use it ( IMO ).
