Hi AP folks,

I've been asked to be photographer for an upcoming event. The client will be offering prints for people to purchase and are organising the printing so I just need to find a solution to help subjects choose and order photos.

There is not much budget for this so I'm looking at alternatives to sites such as www.onlinepictureproof.com which I've seen recommended on a previous thread. Though I could be sneaky and try out the 1 month free trial I'd like some long term ideas for the next time this happens.

I could set up an online gallery for Dropbox and get them to email the file name they want prints of but that seems cumbersome.

Would be I better off getting a site together using some free software like Gallery (http://codex.gallery2.org) or do any of you have other suggestions?

I'd appreciate your thoughts and experiences.

Thanks,

DB

Zenfolio could be worth looking at. You can set up a gallery of pics with a password if you like. Once in there the person can comment on the photo and even show a crop they would like. You get sent the message and link to that particular photo and then can order the print from there. I used this for my brothers Wedding and worked a treat.

Looks like that might be the solution. I'll give it a try. Thanks Old Skool.

There's also Photomerchant (http://www.photomerchant.net/) if you're looking for an Australian-based option.

Gallery2 is dead easy to setup if you already have a website. Free commerce and pay by paypal integration

Thanks Kiwi. I just went and paid for some hosting so I'll set up my site and try Gallery out.

Thanks you all for the different suggestions, you've given me plenty of options.

Rock on.

I ended up installing Gallery3. It has a shopping basket module with plenty of customisation. Thanks again everyone.

I was going to suggest Gallery3. I have used gallery 2, but not with the cart functionality. It is quite customisable and I think Gallery3 is much smoother than Gallery2.
