Is anyone interested in a meet up around mid-august at either the Royal or Auburn Botanic gardens.
Mid - late Sunday afternoon then dinner perhaps?
Mid August is about the time each year when the local media excitedly report to us that 'Shock! Horror! Spring has come early this year!'
So, perhaps we should prepare early for our annual surprise of an early spring and dust off the macro lenses/extension tubes, spray bottles and ring flashes.:th3:

Could do mid August but probably not end of the month at this stage.

I was thinking either Aug 14 or Aug 21 (2nd or 3rd Sunday).
Unless there is a compelling reason, I'd prefer the Royal Botanic Gardens.
The gardens close at 5:30 pm (though it is usually possible to be a little late leaving :th3:)
Aug 14 is my preference as, sunset (no pun intended) is 5:25 pm then, we can hang about for some nice twilight shots; get thrown out:th3: then; mosey over to the Opera House (or wherever) to watch the full moon rise at 5:57pm and watch Tony (http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/member.php?3907-maccaroneski) turn into a werewolf
Afterwards, we could grab a bite :)
What do you think? If i get a bit of interest, I'll add it to the calendar otherwise, I'll just go as Nigel :D (Sorry to any Nigels)

I would like to join you at the Royal on the 14th.
I will possibly drive down earlier in the day.:th3:

Ok, I am thinking of meeting at 3:30 (Opera House steps is prob just as good as any place - I'm not sure that parking on the other side is easy / cheap).
That will give people a chance to get lunch over then get into town and give us a couple of hours of photo-time in the park...
I'll wait for a day or so to see if there is a bit more interest before I put it on the calendar (14th) / commit.

Hi Scottie
Thanks for organising this meet, I hope you all have great time.
Unfortunately I've just been asked to work that day so I'll have to renege on my earlier commitment to come . Sorry bout that.

Hi Scotty. I don't mind the meet but note as the Botantic Gardens close at 5:30pm, it makes it rather difficult for sunset. I would suggest an earlier start for the macro work, maybe 2:30pm and then to retire Mrs Macquarie's Chair around 4:45 to hang around for the sunset. The sun will be setting behind the Opera House from the very tip of Mrs Macquarie's Chair.

I suppose that is an option but, not my favoured one as: parking is both scarce and expensive at Mrs Mac Pt; once the gardens are locked, it is a loooong walk back to Circular Quay in the dark and; the OH is v close to an eatery for dinner.

Royal Botanic is my pick and I will try to make it on one of those Sundays if I can.

You might want to keep in mind the 14th August is the City to Surf - that will mean road closures in the city, not sure what time they will be lifted, as well as 85,000 people who at some stage will be winding their way back from Bondi! Just thought I'd warn you, hate for you to be surprised! Me, I'll be running to Bondi and trying to get some shots at the same time! :p

Thanks, I did know that but that should be all over hours before.
The area of Macquarie Street / College and William Streets will be reopened by midday - well before we meet.
All roads west of 'Heart-break Hill' are open by 2pm.
So, it wont affect us, esp if you train it in or park in the city / rocks :)
I will have to wait for the next get together to meet some fellow APers :(as I will be away!:)
Definitely count me in for the 14th. Will bring the bigma if the skies are clear for the full moon. :)

The Bigma :th3: Me too :D
14th should be good for me too. I'll have recovered from my run up Heartbreak Hill by then!!! :D Perhaps if we coordinate parking etc then only need to have a couple of cars near Mrs Macs chair and then ferry people back to Circ Quay. I remember the long walk back from there last time. It was a killer!

Sunset? If the City 2 Surf doesn't kill her :)
A reminder. Meet up from 3:15 - 3:30 pm at the eastern edge of the Opera House steps (near the Man 'o War Jetty).
If the weather look feral, check back here about lunch time. Light rain = good but, if it is heavy = no go :(

I have an afternoon engagement so won't be able to make it.
Sorry guys but due to unforeseen circumstances I can't make tomorrow, look forward to seeing what the gardens are looking like in the macro forum.

Scotty, still planning to come along but I'm on a deadline to get photos ready for cam club on mon night so as long as that is all done I'll be there.
AmPhot - that's no good I was hoping to have a go with your lenses :)

Would have loved to have come along but have committments in the soccer department...
Scotty,
I have a leave pass from the boss so I plan to be there at approx 3:15pm. It will be fun to give macro photography a try.
I haven't got a macro lens but will use extension tubes.
I am thinking of parking in the Harrington St. (Quay West) car park because it is a flat rate of $15 and an easy walk from the Opera House.
Where are others planning to park?
Due to unforeseen circumstances... won't be able to make it today :(
Catch up with you guys the next time round.
