Do any Pentax sages out there have comments about using the Pentax specific PEF format for raw files compared with the generic Adobe DNG format? I've always stuck to DNG - no trouble with raw converter updates etc. etc., but from time to time have heard comments about the benefits (?) of conversions from PEF.

I use PEF and DNG from the Pentax 645D, the only thing about the PEF is that colours are slightly different, dare I say more accurate when opening and viewing them as Raws - such as the white balance, a bit warmer too.
DNG has its smaller size advantage also.
PEF is smaller than DNG on K7 and K5 :confused013 I'm surprised by the 645D having smaller DNGs

Canon RAW CR2 files when converted to DNG is about 1/2 to 3/4 the size of the original CR2 files in my experience also.
