View Full Version : Shooting a festival
I am wondering what gear you would take and use to shoot a day and early evening cultural community festival. 3 of us have been given the opportunity to be "official photographers" for this community festival this weekend.
I have taken images at other outside events but only as a spectator. I would like to do a good job.
All hints and tis welcome

Hat, sunscreen, good footwear, 24-70, 70-200 and a flash with spare batteries.
What he said, and a water bottle. If images are going to be used commercially or in media a notepad and pen and model releases too
Nikon of course. :)
An FX body and a DX body.
A wide angle lens -- 16-28 ( nothing slower than F/2.8 )
A mid range -- 24-70 ( nothing slower than F/2.8 )
A mid range telephoto lens -- 70-200 ( nothing slower than F/2.8 )
At least one speedlight with off camera wireless capability.
An I-phone to get the pics on to facebook so they are liked quicker.
Yip, i use a 70-200 on dx and 24-70 on fx with speedlight on 24-70 and speedbelt packed with spare batteries, pen and paper etc
The iPhone is a good plan too
Thanks guys, well it will be Nikon, 70 -300 and 18 - 55, I think. I was not to far off.

How did you go with the community festival?
After having done the shoot as a "first time" thing did you get the shots you wanted and can you share your learning experience with others on the forum?
Do we get to see the results?
