Nikon 50mm 1.4g af stopped working?

As per thread title, my 50 mm has started making some unfriendly noises when trying to get focus, and is hunting,and when supposedly locked onto the focus point, has actually missed it. I am guessing it is a motor issue, I have cleaned the contacts on the lens.
Anyone else had a similar problem, and if so what sort of cost to repair it. i will give camera clinic a ring on monday to get a rough idea from them on repair.
Not sure if it is worth it though, lens is out of warranty by 10 months.

Bugger, just check one thing, I had a similar symptom when I had the m/a selector switch half way clicked in place

If it is an SWM replacement that is needed, probably barely viable. Rare with that lens though.
