Although I guess I could have picked just general APS... Although I read that as 1.6x

Full frame digital folks..... Unlike some things, when it comes to sensor size... Bigger is better without a doubt. when you bung 20 mil pixels on a cropped sensor the result is diminished quality especially in the noise dept.

FF and Medium Format Digital for me. Its really really hard to go back to something smaller......

Full frame by preference, since I've been able to afford one and see what it can do (had already been impressed was just a matter of getting one). Will go back to APS-C in times of need, or when I am looking for the advantages of the cropped sensor in terms of focal length.

You know, I have both 35mm sized sensor (Canon 5D) and APS-C (Canon 7D), whilst I like the full frame goodness, I am not 100 percent convinced that it is the be all and end all or the "holy grail" of digital photography.

I think a good bit of the increased quality from a FF sensor comes from the fact that cameras with the larger sensor are also in the higher end offerings, you don't get a consumer/prosumer grade FF camera

it isnt. medium format hoses FF(35) for image quality every time, and for me, is nearing digital perfection. just wish I could justify forking out for a system. although there are some good offerings at more level headed prices from Mamiya and co. starting to appear

Yeah, there are 1.4's 1.55's 1.6's that I am aware of, there could be more. I just though if I started listing each one, the poll gets bigger, so decided in APS only

I'm not greedy. I've only got 8.2 Mil (30D) In my cropped sensor :D Still think it takes a better shot than my sons 50D , A 5D would be nice tho :th3:

I am one of many that prefers the 20/30D sensor over the more noiser 40D and 50D cameras:)

I've been shooting full-frame digital (ie, digital 135-format) since 2006. Before that, I shot with an APS-C DSLR.

I prefer the larger, brighter viewfinder and the fact that my lenses behave as they were designed.

I can certainly see the advantage of APS-C and APS-H sensors for photography requiring long focal lengths and tight crops without discarding pixels (ie, sport and wildlife), but as I shoot neither, the advantage isn't in my favour.

I've never looked into medium-format digital. Besides not being remotely necessary for anything I'm doing, it's prohibitively costly.

I shoot mainly with my 5D these days and prefer it over the APS offerings, but since starting uni and getting to use the Hasselblads and Rollie's with 6x6 film is making see a whole other world of possibilities.

There are SIX using medium format film. That is larger than 35mm, and the poll indicates that the number of forum respondents using medium format film is almost 1/10 of total respondents.

Umm large format film is traditionally considered to be 5 x 4 inch, 10 x 8 inch etc

Medium format film is generally any film in the 120mm format.

And its also worth noting that the question is what is the PRIMARY format ? So while I dont doubt the respondents to the poll, it would surprise me if there was more than two or three who were shooting medium format film as their PRIMARY format. Having a multiple choice answer is therefore a tad misleading as PRIMARY in this context would indicate first choice, so multiple answers would therefore be confusing.

I have a 5D on one shoulder and a 1D on the other at every shoot I go to, I suppose I could go through the EXIF in Lightroom and see which gets used more.. but I thought picking both was good enough. ;)

I am lucky enough to have the 5D full frame (would love the 5D MkII) and have recently graduated from the 30D APS 1.6 crop to the 1D MkIII with a 1.3 crop.
