Ipad as a DSLR monitor...?

I've been searching around to try and find out if the iPad can be used as an external monitor for my 7D. Not much luck so far but I was wondering if anyone has heard of any possibilities?

If you google iPad tethering, it can be done, but is seems a bit Mickey mouse

a much better alternative would be the Phottix Hector being released soon, 9 inch HD screen with HDMI and 1080p connection, made for DSLRs and videographers in mind
