Hey guys,
Im new to photography and love shooting wild life at the moment i have the standard 18-105 lens.
Im looking to upgrading to a telephoto lens and was just wondering which is bets for shooting wild life, anything from around $1500 down is my budget.
Also where is best to buy lenses from online or from a camera store?

Cheers
Jason

For the budget you discussed I would be looking at a Sigma 150 - 500 mm Lens.

I've bought heaps of stuff online and had it delivered to my po box, no problem at all. But, if I know a local shop has an item in stock my preference is to drive there and get it, but that's just me, others may have a different feel. I'm thinking of getting the same Sigma, although the MTF at 500mm indicates a bit of astigmatism. Just short of 500mm should be relatively ok.

A prime 300/4 will be the best choice for your budget for wildlife.
