View Full Version : Night Shoot 9th April (East Perth and Beyond)
After a success tonite, some of my fellow AP regs got chatting and have come up with the 9th April for a shoot in East Perth.
Will look at a possible 5.00 pm start, Park on Brook St, just of East Parade. There is some cool street scape stuff there to start with, and move on from there.
Let us know what you think.

I'll keep this logged in my iphone, not sure of my roster on that date just yet :th3:
will keep this in mind.
I like streetscapes !
Will be watching this space :)
Still waiting on a couple of regs, Hint Tom - Peter?
Just adding to this post, can't help myself. I posted some shots of the City of Perth Council Chamber Building and got some strong intrest, was wondering if anyone is interested in heading down there after East Perth. Food for thought.
Sounds like it could be fun.
I do have something else on that evening, but if I can get away with it I should hopefully be able to join in at least until sunset. =)

Good to see barkingox, will post a meeting point soon. I believe jjhtt (Jeff) went in the other night and had coffee somewhere, that might be the place to meet. What do you think Jeff, room for us all?

OK, I'm in for this...checked my roster last night & I can fit it in. Let us know exactly where to meet there, I know a few faces :)
Good stuff Gemini, Jeff was in EP the other night and mentioned a coffee shop, I've asked him whether that's a good spot to meet up and kick off the night? stay tuned, Do you know any where we might meet up in EP? Theres always the Royal hotel, but I'd get stuck there and that would be the end of the night. LOL
haha i was going to suggest the back of the royal- nice open space by the water, wouldnt be able to miss eachother there with our camera bags :)
Depending on the time of the meet up there is a little coffee shop at the bottom of the steps on the right hand side (next to the Royal, footbridge side). .... nearmap image (http://www.nearmap.com/?q=@-31.952671,115.878308&ll=-31.952671,115.878308&z=20&t=k&nmd=20110215) .... Not sure on it's operating hours. It was closed when I was there. I've only been there around 6am before.

I'm happy with either (Kinkylizard - The Royal), what time are most people thinking of heading down there. Not sure about getting sunseting shots from EP has anyone done that before? other wise we may as well meet around 6.00pm ish? Can we get an angle of the WACA light towers with the setting sun? or maybe the last light over the inner harbour area outside the Royal. Please feel free to post some ideaas guys.
Thoughts on this please.

Hi All, I'm back. Haven't been around much and haven't taken a photo since Christmas. New job with lots of travel has slowed me right down. I hope like buggery I can make this one, but if not I will certainly try and get out again with you all soon (some of you for the first time). Ordered some new gear today so I have a good excuse to get out there again (new Tamron 60mm macro and wireless triggers for off camera flash).
Cheers
Warren

Great to catch up with new & familiar faces, great night out lets do more! :):th3:
Spent all day processing my dog & East Perth shots  I'll post one in landscapes now :th3:
Twas a good night out, and always fun to try something different. Glad you pulled up sore too Jeff, my thighs are killing me today!
Have processed a couple of tower shots, but have left the 6min one so far...not sure I like the torch trails as much but I'll give it a whirl!
Tom - can you let me know how to blend the black shot in to reduce noise please? I expect I could google it.
Look forward to seeing some shots, always interesting to see what others get from the same location :)
So, will wait for Juanita to give us the nod on the tees at Araluen....
Maybe a sunset at Point Peron or similar is next on the cards. Tom can show us the best way to get our feet wet!?

Dark frames subtraction - I'll actually should post it here rather than PM it. Rather than writing a step by step instr I think I will post links to some decent info that actually describes the process fully.
Just an info on what on earth subtraction is can be found here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_frame_subtraction
Instruction how to do it in photoshop - http://www.takegreatpictures.com/digital-photography/9503
So, use it and abuse it ;) as it does an excellent thing!
I haven't made my feet wet for quite some time so I'm more than keen to get out and get in the water. Just tell me when and where....and then Roosta, you can actually enjoy the sights of me holding my camera, not only taking it out of my bag
I reckon we started getting a bit stupid with the lights in the end, maybe another try at it now that you're familiar with the exposure calculations, and do it properly. Good to see what works though, I think the trail down the bottom is a good inclusion.
Thanks for the info Tom, will see how it goes. The shot I posted was with no noise reduction but surprisingly was OK.

Will have to wait for my legs to heal......calves now out in sympathy with the thighs. I really should work on my fitness!

You caught some nice colours there Peter...& did you happen to capture a plane in the middle of the sculpture?
I really like #2, good composition....just a shame those cars were parked there!
#3 has some nice colour, I would just prefer to see a little more at the top to add some context to the shot.
Some nice shots though, was good to catch up again :)

Excellent stuff Peter :) I like the magnification of that 'sculpture' in #1. It shape and size on that very accurate for its shape sky makes it look great!
#2 has a nice composition! Adjust some sharpening and it will look ab perfect :):th3::th3: sir
