Large scale meet and greet.

I've been thinking about a large scale meet and greet for ages now....

We don't need to take photos, we could simply meet for lunch or something!

The idea with the meet is to provide a relaxing setting for us to sit and talk. Roma Street Park Lands does offer some interesting subjects to shoot (we can pose as models and do a model shoot, or we can photograph the ducks, lizards, flowers etc)

Because we're meeting around lunch we will have plenty of time to plan a possible Sunset shoot also.

Bring your own food/drinks etc

Yep..it is. That's why we do it. Bring in the new members and their families so they feel more comfortable meet us regular members that know each other already. Good chance to break the ice.

New Farm park is a good idea, but the parking is a nightmare...
Id suggest somewhere like Mt Cootha, or Rocks Riverside, or some large, unnamed park. But the convenience of a hotel is good for the "catered for" thing

There is some parking along beside the parklands but you have to be lucky to get one here. There is a larger carpark at the end but this too fills quickly. There is also limited public parking under the unit blocks. Other wise you might find a park in Albert St or Wickham Tce.

I went to the meet today hoping to find some lovely jumping spiders...or hover flies, but all I found was damn frogs...which I've been exclusively shooting for the last few weeks. All this frogtography is starting to drive me bonkers :/

I had a great afternoon. So many of us. Hard to get around to everyone but I think we all enjoyed ourselves.
I had my grand daughter there which most of my time was spent on taking photos of her but I think most of us walked away with a photo of Chloe.
But these are the (2) I walked away with that wasn't her..LOL ;)

What an absolutely beautiful collection of photos. Looks like a resoundingly successful meet. Well done to everyone :th3: There are lots of places around Brisbane I missed out on when we were living there and other places I got a frequently that I miss as well e.g. Wello Point & Pt Halloran (old stomping ground). About to move again now further south to Tumut...Cold!!! and hopefully get to meet a few photographers there. I am kind of looking forward to some nice wintery morning shots :)
