I've been asked my a friend for advice about buying a low cost camcorder for recording a 9 day sailing trip.
As my photographic knowledge is sketchy at best and my knowledge of camcorders even less, I thought I'd ask here for some pointers.

Requirements are that it's HD and waterproof. Doesn't have to be able to stand up to a scuba dive but if it should survive being dropped in the water without needing immediate remedial surgery.
The only other requirement is low cost. A budget wasn't mentioned but I'd say around $350 maximum.
I've looked at eBay cheapies and Sanyo Xacti so far.

I've just been reminded of one other requirement - it should be pink, but I think we can ignore that one :) Teenagers!

I researched this a few months ago.

It seemed to me as though this camera was the best:

Look at some of the samples. It is waterproof.

In the end I did not buy it, as I went for a very low cost solution. It is a plastic waterproof bag which you put your camera in it and seal it and operate the camera through the bag. It has a little porthole for the lens. I use an old point and shoot camera on video mode and take it to the beach/pool etc. It cost about 25 bucks.

Maybe join a video forum as they probably have more to offer in regard to camcorder advice than a photography forum
