RAW upload to lightroom error

Hi
I have recently downloaded a trial version of Lightroom. I'm getting an error saying

'the files appear to be unsupported or damaged (542)'

when importing from my computer or the camera.

I don't have any problem importing and uploading into photoshop but I have been told Lightroom is quicker to use. Any suggestions as to what the error could be.

Hi Mandy,
I have recently purchased Lightroom 3.0.
The download of RAW files from my Canon 5D was not a problem, but the same messsage as you mentioned appeared for my new Canon Powershot G12.
The answer is to upgrade to Lightroom 3.3 ( free download ) which contains a patch for new cameras like the G12.
Ther is a complete list on the Adobe site for all RAW Formats covered by Lightroom.
I suggest you go to the following Adobe site for strters and go from there..... http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4807
