My camera bag (lowepro flipside 300) like many others has a tripod holder bit on the outside.
however, i ride everywhere on a motorcycle, so, any ideas on how to weather protect the tripod while riding?

im assuming the easiest answer is just a big dry bag, but would love to hear if there is something a little nicer out there?

I am not sure why you want to keep the tripod waterproof ?

Do you never get it's feet wet ?

because it wont be the feet getting wet, it will be the whole thing, over long trips getting saturated, including a fluid head, that amount of water is never good for things

I really think just a big long dry bag will be your best friend in this case

Manfrotto have a couple of special pod bags - check their web site. http://www.manfrotto.com/product_list/8374.76885.76894.0.0/Carrying_Solutions_For_Tripods

I got this one (http://www.manfrotto.com/product/8374.76885.76894.0.0/MBAG80N/_/Tripod_Bag_Unpadded_80cm) from Vanbar when I bought my tripod, although I think that they sell them separately for about 30 bucks.

G'day Daniel

pop out to your local camping shop and see what they've got in blue-poly-tarp bags
they may be meant for tent poles or bbq bitz, but it's quite likely that they'll have something of the 'right' size & shape
