Well, I was about to purchase an SB600 flash for my camera. Must say that at the moment don't have a lot of use for the flash but 400 I have decided against. Now the 700 is coming out, not really a hell of a lot dearer, which one. Also if I'm prepared to take a little gamble on ebay, the 900s are not too bad, which one do people suggest? Has anyone who knows the ins and outs compared the 600 and 700?

Can't remember where, but I did see an SB600 going for $260.00 delivered to Aus. today.

As an owner of an SB 800 - 600 -- 26 combination the price on the one ^ above is very generous.

Unless you are that advanced that you desperately need either the 900 or 700, stick to the older model ( reliable ) units, produce great shots and hone your skills along the way. :)

I bought a 400 and upgraded to the 600 soon after. I would love an 800 but only because of the pc socket and a couple little features for stobist stuff. The 600 does 99% of what i want be it TTL or manual. And its much cheaper, i got my over the net from HK.

It would really depend on where you want to use it, as for pro work, enthusiast or hobby.
Check out the features for each model level, and ask yourself, will I really be using it for this, or is it just my wish list or "just in case I need it" feature?
For me, personally, an SB600 is sufficient for my situation using Nikons.

Food for thought. Nissin Di866, $299.00, could be cheaper at the moment. Don,t dismiss it , have a look at the specs compared to the SB900, might surprise you. Have one, absolutely can't complain.
