Hello,

I was wondering if anybody of you uses the mogrify plugin in lightroom to sharpen your photos when exporting.

I would like to use it but i don't have any idea what to set with the sliders at the unshapen panel:

Radius
Sigma
Amount
Threshold

I am not even sure what the difference between unsharp mask and the basic sharpen panel is.

Would be great if someone could enlighten me.

Also really interested in how many people use this feature and what your preferred settings are.

How else do Lightroomers sharpen their images on export?

Ciao,

Mirc

Hi there Mirc. To be honest I don't use the mogrify plugin. Instead, I've set up three unsharp mask actions in Photoshop; one for 2px, one for 1px and one for 0.5px. That way I can apply a 2px unsharp mask, see how it looks and if it's too harsh I can simply undo the action and then try the 1px version. A bit more flexible in my opinion.

Andrew.

Stoogest. Have you tried Smart Sharpen, and the Edit -Fade option to any filter action?

Sorry, Mircula. Now to you...
radius - how many pixels "wide" you want the filter to be
sigma - (a Greek letter)
amount - the degree of sharpness at the desired radius
threshold - basically a lower level below which there will be no sharpening

And a big BUT (with one T only): Aren't these terms all described in LR Help?

Am (to you both).

There are entire books written just on sharpening

I'd suggest trying the sliders out, there is no magic answer

Surely that's controlled by the "abracadabra" slider.
