Hi, would love to hear what Macro lenses people are using, I have a Canon 450D and I am looking to buy a macro lens, what would you suggest, thanks
Well I don't have one yet, but I have heard good things about the Canon 100mm so I am pretty sure that is going to be the next lens I buy.

Hi,
It depends on your financial state to a large extent. The cheapest option would be to get some close up lenses for a nifty fifty (Canon 50mm 1.8 lens). A more expensive option would be to go for the Canon 100mm 2.8 lens (I have that one, or rather I have "borrowed" it from a friend) And for crop sensor Canons this one - 65/2.8 EF-S (very sharp, apparently)

I have the Canon 180 mm 3.5 L macro lens and I love it, but before this (while I was saving for a true macro), I had the Kenko macro extension tubes that I used with an old 75-300 lens that I had. I used them for around two years and had so much fun. The beauty of using the 75-300 lens was that I could stand back further from the insects and therefore less chance of scaring them away. I still use the Kenko tubes with my 180 mm lens at times and still get very good results.
Either EFS60mm or EF100mm - both are excellent. Plenty of discussion about them on other AP threads, if you do a search.
