I bought 8 AA and used the "BREAK-In" mode. After they go flat and I want to recharge using the "CHARGE" mode what charge rate do you guys use?

I read the default setting is 1000ma if you dont make a selection in 10 seconds (which I calculate as being 0.4C for 2700mAh AA batteries)

It states:

Dont go under 0.3C (2700mAh x 0.3C = 810ma)

AND

Dont go over 1.0c (2700mAh x 1.0c = 2700ma)

The C9000 Instructions are good but it makes no recommendations for charge rates. Even in the 'General Battery Education" it only states slower=better batt performance but longer charge times AND faster = wont charge as fully & temps can be higher.

Now I dont plan on burning the house down so Im thinking say 1200ma-1800ma

Just use the default 1000 - too easy!
I have eneloops and Powerex 2700's and i don't bother with special rates.
1/2 C (1000 for eneloops) is slow enough to be safe as

Agree.

Just check that they are not getting warm at that rate (heat is the enemy). 1000 should be fine though.

And every so often, cycle them (at a slower rate).

I either read on the protog website or in discussions on rechargeables that they recommend 0.5 of the capacity. So 1350 for the 2700ma and 1000 for the eneloops. Having said that default is just as easy.
