Now I don't really know if I have been suckered in here or not :)

It is an EOS 1 - V not an EOS 1D - V

I am guessing I have :)

That's the Canon EOS-1V. It's a film SLR, and was introduced in 2000.

Canon Australia seems to have removed the (few) FSLRs it had on its site. I hadn't looked for them for a while, but they were there before the current site redesign.

You can find information about the EOS-1V here at the Canon Camera Museum:

David,

It's not dodgy; that's how that camera is.

What's important is that it's a legitimate ten-year-old film SLR and not a digital model, or anything which signals the end of any current digital models in the 1-series.
