I am ready to upgrade - K10D is still only at about 70,000 images and has at least another 30,000 in her.. I guess I need to get out and about and clock up the to 100,000 - My aim prior to replacement.

The Spec's on the K5 do look impressive Higher ISO and 7 FPS will be handy for some of what I do for fun.. (Only if the focus has been improved.)

I really don't think I will be upgrading from my K20D - it does everything I need it to do at present.
Better glass is more of a priority, and IMO makes more of a difference rather that a couple more MP, and a few more frames per second.

It's probably not a major jump from the K7 but if you would have to be tempted if you were still using an earlier model.

Oh, terrific! 5 minutes after I get a "new" K-x it's going to be given away so the KR can fit on the shelves!

Hehe,
hey dont feel that bad... its not like your camera wil stop working because a new model has come out.
Its just like a car, just when you finally save up enough and buy a new car, they bring out the next model....
Dont worry...keep shooting !
Cheers Neil

Well I've got my tax return burning a hole in the account so I might have to grab myself a K5. Hope the silly starburst filter is there.

Yvon is usually on the money...

As you may or may not know, this site is a reliable source as far as Pentax announcements. We don't speculate nor do we start any rumors. Pentax is going to announce some new equipment very soon. You probably searched through the internet forums and read all kind of rumors and speculations. In due time, we will announce whatever Pentax is introducing, along with images, photographs, specifications and full description of the capabilities. To all my Pentaxian friends, this has been a very good year for Pentax, The K-7 was a moderate success, The K-x changed the entry-level game and the 645D is the most economical Medium Format DSLR and will probably spread globally. A good year for Pentax is a good year for all of us.

I'm still learning about the K10D. It never leaves me but I've still only used 8100 actuations. If I use fossil's formula I'll still be using it in 40 years time.

Everything so far is just more or less rumours so it will be good to see the real specs once the new bodies are announced. I'm pretty happy with my K20D but there is a few things that I need upgraded to suit the types of images I capture so I am looking forward to see what they are like. Really want a K20D sized body though.

I was reading a bit somewhere on the net about the supposed 18 point AF and how it is unlikely. It would be impossible to have it symmetrical with 18 points, so if Pentax want symmetrical it would have to have an odd number of points including the center spot focus point. Seems it may be the same as the 645D and still use 11 points but with a good upgrade. Time will tell I suppose, not long now hopefully.

I've only had my K-7 for about 8 months but if the ISO and IQ are improved, I may be tempted to buy.

Though I rarely shoot in AF as all my lenses are manual.
