View Full Version : HELP: Posing Adult Groups
I have to do a family shoot tomorrow but would like suggestions on posing please.
4 adults (not fond of having pics taken): Mum, Daughter, Son, Son's Girlfriend. Son is going away Army next month and Mum wants a family photo before he goes.
I am going to their house to shoot and hoping for somewhere outside to shoot.
Please help, I am more comfortable with kids!

Ok, it's not too hard really. You want to get them fairly close together to show the close-knit nature of a family.
Try to get all the heads at different levels, but aim for a degree of symmetry in heights too (i.e. avoid shortest to tallest).
You've clearly got three women and one man, so maybe aim to put the bloke towards the middle.
Apart from the formal poses, look for touching candids, as they are often treasured more by the family anyway.
Thanks so much!!
Will let you know how it goes :)
yep as Dave says above, also look at the sun and try not to have them squinting. Also be aware that with son in the army and travelling soon, these are really special memories so candids (as Dave mentioned) should be really important, as emotions might be high.
Good luck, hope all goes well
Hopefully image uploads here....

Now you have the photo you could use photo shop to change the background for a more formal effect if you wanted to . The photo you have taken is quite good in my opinion you can be happy with that.

Sorry :( I didn't realise.
Is there a way to delete this thread or at least my post with image?

Nah, I will let it stay, just wanted to make you aware that the NTP forum is not for general posting of photos. We want all members, no matter what the experience level to post photos in the Member Photos forums. My view is that segregating new members photos from everyone else, creates an 'us and them' culture, and that is not something that I feel is productive on a site.
