The first web site built was at CERN, and was first put on line on 6 August 1991.
Although the 30th of April 1993 is considered the birthday of the web as that was the day CERN agreed that anyone could use the Web protocol and code royalty-free.

Time has flown.
I had my first Web site in 1996, so I guess I didn't wait too long.
Ah, the memories... textured wallpaper backgrounds, frames, "under construction" banners, etc. All very horrid stuff!

Those were the days - Viola web browser on Sun workstations. In those very early days we could link to almost every other web site in the world (less than a thousand existed).

The first browser I used was a beta of Netscape Navigator v1.6. That was mid-1995.
Another blast from the past: GeoCities. I never had a site there, but a lot of people sure did.
And I was hanging onto my Amiga because of it's windows type O/S.

It's just a passing fad for geeks, I doubt it will have any mainstream use. :lol2:
