Nikon D90 2nd batery inquiry

Hi there :) ... I'm new in photography and considering to buy another batery for my D90.
Is there any do/dont for 2nd batery?
how I should store the 2nd batery?

I read/hear either in D90 manual or tutorial not to store the batery in fully charged or entirely empty (will reduce the storage capacity), so is 80-90% charged is a good percentage to store the batery?

I'm also thinking to buy batery grip, is that a good thing to have?

Buy genuine batteries if you can.
Use them in FIFO basis so they will have good a cycle life.

I've used eBay non-genuine in both my Pentax - same capacity and performance - usual ebay safety i.e. check the feedback!

Lots of AP members use non-genuine in all brands.

The circuitry in Li-ion is required for all of them to ensure correct discharge. There is no special magic for each brand.

i have spare batteries for my cameras (d80, 2 x d300) and i find even when shooting whole day weddings i barely get through one battery and have only called on my spare once or twice. That said I went with genuine batteries as I prefer the safety that going genuine brings (eg. if a non-genuine battery damages the camera's circuitry, you're not eligible for free warranty repairs etc). That said, from most reports non-genuine seem fine these days.

as for storing batteries, my spares hold charge for quite a while (weeks) and i just keep them in my bag with the plastic cover over their terminals.
