Interesting. I was a bit worried when I saw the electrical outlet, thought he was planning some sort of ant torture.

funny, but the ant itself, so ugly, the shots are perfect.

shots and method is perfect ok, and this is nearly on of my favourite photography resources now. What lets it down, tho, is he doesn't describe in multiple ways the best method for eradicating the damned things from the face of the Earth. Damned silly little nasty biters, they are.. and I'll never forgive them for biting me long ago, forcing me to abandon a great storm cloud scene! :action:

now I look to shoot them with a 44 magnum! :p

seriously tho,.. great site and the images are brilliant(to the point where I want to have a go at them too now.

Good stuff. I've tried on many occassions to take ant photos but have never been successful. Maybe this will help.

Just read this post today.
Funny, I was playing around with my Canon 60mm macro yesterday, and took a short video of some ants at work in my backyard.
I saw a small line of them, and so I put down a piece of food from my cats' bowl, and watched them go at it.
Looks small on you-tube, but the full file is amazingingly clear.
Sorry for the bad focus, as i was handholding the camera and adjustingthe focus manually.
Next time, I'll use a smaller lens opening to get better DOF.
