Just wondering if anyone has used a Generic Speedlite. I have found a few on Ebay and was wondering what they are like? Feedback would be good. Or should I buy a Canon for my 450D, thanks

I bought the YN460 off ebay and apart from dud batteries it's been good.
Please understand I've used it twice. Flash photography is not my thing. Got it to work remote off the camera no problems.

I have the same one. I've never mastered the auto settings but as I mainly use it for fill flash anyway that's OK, it has 8 light levels you can set manually. The batteries in mine seem to last very well, I use Duracell usually.
I brought the Nissin Di622, it is reasonably OK, I went the cheaper generic brand because I don't use it much, but to be honest I wish I'd brought the better Canon brand. I will probably end up doing that and keep the Nissin as a slave.

I have the yn-460 II powered by Powerex batteries (available via site sponsor)
Very pleased.
But understand, it is only a manual flash so, if you understand how to use manual (or are willing to learn), you will get great results; if not, you will get frustrated.

I have bought from that guy - he's ok - but I have the yn-460 and the yn-460 II.
Pay the extra $10 -15 for the mark II, it is more than worth it.

If you can get that for $40.00 then you have not lost much if it does not work effectively. And why are the canon products $3-400's or more? Worth a try.
