BULB setting

hey, does anyone know a good way of holding down the button in the bulb setting? i can do it with my hand but the tripod isnt very steady

It's in the Canon forum, but should be equally useful with any other brand. Lots of good info there.

i have a remote for it .. and change settings for release to the remote and most handy:)

Only way is with a remote, otherwise you are limited to a maximum of 30 seconds using the shutter button on the camera itself.

Get yourself a cable release or remote. They're not that expensive, and it will prevent any type of camera shake in use.

I would rather spend a few bucks and not have to worry about keeping my finger on the button whilst the shutter is open .. especially if you are doing 3-4 minute exposures.

You can find cheap remotes on ebay. Got mine for around $15. :)

You can also get intervalometers.... which can be programmed to take a series of bulb images at programmed intervals :)

yep as other say remote, wether its wired or wireless can pick up cheapies on ebay of course but never used one ive only used canon ones so i cant comment on the ebay versions

A remote will also be useful for more than just bulb mode, handy for any long exposure on a tripod so you don't bump the camera when shooting

Using blu-tak to hold down the shutter button works a treat.
I've used it for 4 and 5 minute exposures of stars

I would have to agree with a remote. Not that much to buy and worth it very much.
