What mount are they ?

I would say no if your lenses are MC or MD. They were different from the mounts for the Pentax of the same era. I had to get a Pentax K-mount to use my telephoto on another person's Pentax. Dunno about later ones. Am.

Short answer: No

Long answer:

M42 mount lenses ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentax_K_mount#M42 work.

But not Minolta mount to Pentax K as such.

This is a helpful item: http://anusf.anu.edu.au/~aab900/photography/cameras/adapters.htm

The biggest issue with interchange of brand lenses is the registration distance (flange to sensor/film distance).
M42 mount and Pentax K have the same distance, others need optical adjustment.

I have a couple of MC lenses... I know its probably a vain hope but would the MD adapter work with those? I'd kill to have access to my 50mm f/1.4 and 200mm f/3.5 again. Both lenses are in perfect condition, I've kept them sealed and babied for 30 years, and have just not wanted to dispose of them.

The adaptor shown has a lens. I understand from others, this degrades the image that you would normally expect from the lens.

Here is a list of register distances for the various lens. Pentax is 46.6 (K or M42) so if the lens register is less than that it cannot be adapted without that lens insert in the adapter.

http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~westin/misc/mounts-by-register.html

You will notice that Leica is greater so an adapter without correction should be available: And it is:-

http://www.leitax.com/index.html

So, all you Pentax users, let's start sucking up the Leica lens' & pushing the price up like the Caonon uses have been doing to the Supertaks. :)

Um Jibbonpoint, Leicas are already seriously expensive. Not that I'm averse to doing a little surgery on an R mount Leica and transplanting one of those Leitax to Pentax mounts.

Answered my own question, the adapter in the previous link won't work with my MC lenses but apparently this one (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Minolta-MD-MC-Lens-Pentax-Adapter-Focus-Infinity-/250643030383?pt=Lens_Accessories&hash=item3a5b7d216f) or this one (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Minolta-MD-MC-Lens-Pentax-PK-camera-K-x-K-7-K20D-/280516918917?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41501c7e85) will. I think I'll get oneof them and see how it goes. Never bought anything on ebay before so I'm a bit nervous.

And further to *that* my paypal account is a complete schemozzle. I hate paypal. Can't buy the adapter.

[edit] and how come we can't edit posts except if its almost immediate. these last posts of mine could well have been all in one.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to see how it would go. (I think you have to edit within an hour)

me too. I am soooo ticked off that these adapters are not readily available in a regular store either online or offline.

I'm going to *try* to get the paypal issues sorted out and once that's done (if it ever is), I'll see about getting the adapter. Next day, I'm not as cranky as I was, and those two lenses are gorgeous - even though the 200mm isn't even a Minolta Rokkor, its some brand I never heard of until it was given to me as a present... a Formula 5, made in Japan, all metal construction. Nice bit of kit, and it was great on the SRT303b

Finally have sorted my paypal issues, and have ordered an MC/MD to PK adapter.

Yes, I understand it has glass in it, and that may degrade the image somewhat, but to my mind its way better than just having the 50 and 200 sitting in a bag waiting for... ?

I'll post pix once I have it all in hand and can get out with the camera :)

Hmm, nobody has been looking or responding here much... still, I'll post some shots and see how we go. I think that the mythology about not being able to use "old" Minolta lenses can now be laid to rest.

1) I acquired from ebay something which was advertised as an MC/MD to PK adapter. When I received it, it was labelled MD to PK. I got a bit nervous... LINK (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250643030383&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:AU:1123)
2) MC Rokkor 50mm f/1.4: One shot and 100% crop. ISO 200 and f8: distance to subject was about 2ft (forgot I needed to make a note) VERY pleased.

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/9959/rokkorcrp2.jpg
3) Formula5 200mm f/3.5: Again, one shot plus crop, at f/5.6. Not as good as the Rokkor but I did not expect it would be. The lens is all metal and heavy as all get out. I need a tripod to make use of this one and did not have it handy. Also, totally forgot to switch the ISO from 1600 which I had been playing with a couple of days ago. Distance to subject I think was also around 2ft , (but might have been more like 4-5)

Thanks Kym :) I've been babying those Minolta lenses for years (these are the first shots since about 1994). Babying the camera didnt work, shutter is jamming so I couldnt even do film. Cost of repair more than camera is worth, the camera shop guys reckoned. (It cost a bomb in 1973!! It was a month's wages for me) Hmmm... think I'll add the adapter and lenses to my growing list of "stuff"

Hmm. Saw this thread refresh and had to see what I had said before. Well, now I've read your plight about the body, I'm wondering if I should tell you that I have three working bodies: XD7, XD5 and SRT303B. (Boast, skite, show off!:th3:) I hope they're still working like they were last week. I check then occasionally and still use the XD5 a bit. The XD7 seems to have slowed down in set shutter speeds on Auto S.
Am.
PS, I have lost over the years one top 303 and an SRT Super (re-badged 303). With those losses I also lost the mirror lock-up facility.:(

:P to yoooo! LOL.

Its my SRT303b that is unuseable. I almost got the shutter working again (or rather I got it working but its seized up again now so I gave up). I'm just chuffed that I can now use the only two lenses I had for it, and that they are still in pristine condition. I suspect, of the two, the 50 will get the most work :) I've also got a bunch of Hoya filters, and one of those screw-in rubber collapsible hoods as well, so its all good.

Just 4 interest, do you have a specifically the "MC ROKKOR f=50mm f/1.7 lens"? Not the f/1.4, f/1.2, or MD lenses, but that one.
