battery usage in the cold

Hi, I'll be trekking in the Nepal Mount Everest region in November where the temperature will be -10 to about 10C. I have a pentax K7. Does anyone have experience with battery life in these conditions as i'll be trekking for about 23 days and don't know how many spares to take. Weight is an issue so don't really want unneccessary extras.

Battery life is known to drop substantially in extreme cold. I have heard people saying take your battery out of the camera and wear on your your person, under your clothing, then when you want to take photos remove it, put it in the camera, take the shots and then put it back under your clothes.
