Multi tier lens filters

Sorry but I couldn't think of a better title.
My question is:
if a person was already using a uv filter, and doing water bird shots.
Would it be best to remove the uv and attach a C/Polorizer to reduce the glare, or piggy back one to the other.
If piggy back is ok, then which one should be the outer?

there will be a degradation of iq either way prob, makes no sense to put uv filter on last, as it shouldnt even be there in the first place

Without getting into the "UV filter or not argument" - I suggest that only one screw-on filter at a time is all that's usually needed.

Having said that, "IF" you are using the Cokin system of sliding filters into a multi-slide filter holder, that is designed to handle 2 filters at the same time ... but now you're into specialised activities :)

Thanks for confirming what I thought, it just didnt make sense to me having two 'distortions' attached.
B4 joining this forum I had already bought both UV & C/PL for two of my lens - I wont be buying anymore.

If you really must have a uv filter use it on the lens alone, but don't stack it with a cpl.

Also there is not much point buying multiple polarizers, buy one in the biggest size that your collection of lenses needs and use step up rings on the others.
