Hi Everyone

I have been asked to do a Pregnancy shoot, and she has requested at least a black background for some of the shoots.

Does anyone know of any stands/backgrounds that won't break the bank but are still good quality?

Thank you so much!

Regards
Melissa

How unbreakable is your bank?

Have you thought about restricting the field of view and using a piece of 2 metre wide by how ever long you want black fabric from spotlight and a couple of drawing pins into a wall?

The possibilities and price range are almost limitless when it comes to that sort of gear but site advertiser Servaas Products has stands and backdrops at pretty representative prices on this page ----- http://servaas.com.au/studio-lighting-c-53.html

I use a black bed sheet pinned to a wall, as Andrew is suggesting, but perhaps that fabric A-clamped to two light stands if you haven't got a wall in the right spot?

black fabric is good however if it has any wrinkles they show up and look amatuerish.

I get around this by using a wide open aperture and having the model and background a fair bit apart, this will depend on your lens setup but it works well with what I have.

Good luck and don't forget to show us the results :th3:

Thankyou everyone!

Andrew, I can get the stand, a black and a white backdrop for $300 from that site. Thats perfect!

If you can get far enough away from your background, with a fast enough sync speed and strobes, your background will go black (even if it's white) - http://www.zarias.com/white-seamless-tutorial-part-3-from-white-to-black/ (the whole tutorial is worth reading)
