G'day all

At Mildura the other day, I visited an electronics shop where they had a collection of old TV equipment incl this old camera.
It was tagged with the info that back in 1966, when new, it cost $90,000 and the zoom lens unit attached, cost $20,000

1- in some of the telethon-broadcasts etc, you may have seen these in use many years ago

2- and its "to die for" f1.5 zoom lens unit

Wow - a 17x zoom lens unit ... well we're getting them today with the Superzoom cameras and the Tamron's etc, but to have it as an f1.5 lens ~ that's something else :th3:

Wow, thats awesome.

Puts in perspective just how hard it is to make quality optics. Sure, you can have that super fast super zoom on your 450D, but be prepared to carry it around on a trolley :D

Puts it all into perspective. The Fujinon on my HDCAM broadcast camera cost $36k which is relatively cheap for good glass. The camera was about $86k.
In comparison digital photography is damn cheap. Pity these lens don't fit my Nikon.
