7D movie no sound

Maybe I missed something when reading the manual.
I recorded a couple of movies at the car racing over the weekend & none of them have sound.
Should it record the sound automatically, or do I need to enable it somehow?

Auto I would have thought. Mine certainly didn't need to be turned on.
