When I saw the cover of "The moment it clicks" (http://www.amazon.com/Moment-Clicks-Photography-secrets-shooters/dp/0321544080) I decided I wanted to try something like that .
This is my first attempt so that I have something to work with when I find a more attractive model .

I ended up with the flash firing through an umbrella , the wide diffuser was out , and I had to stand and operate the shutter while trying to aim the mirror right down the centre of the lens .

I originally set the exposure manually to "-2" and the background looked right but the light was changing .
I did a test shot on my hand .

and adjusted the background back down to "-2" and did a 'safer' crop

I think this setup will do the job when I get someone to pose for me .
With someone else being the subject I think I could get the umbrella closer for more light 'wrap around ' and better diffusion .

thats pretty tricky.... I like this.
though like the cover, it might look more dramatic if the mirror didnt have a border or casing.

I love the last one-it's quite surreal.

Yeah , it does look a little 'weak' . I wanted to perfect the technique first , now I will break a larger mirror and sand-blast the edges smooth ...... and find a prettier model !:D
