Just purchased a benro c269 with a J1 head after reading many reviews about different tripods and made a call based on the price and value for money. Hope I have made the right decision.

I have a Benro A357 with the B2 head, heavy and rock steady which is just what I wanted.

When I say heavy, it is no heavier than the Gitzo GT5541LS.

Finally got my tripod the benro c268 with a j10 ball head the ball is a little small and the five sections look a bit unsteady but will have to try it.

The travel angel comes with a head, is it replaceable or fixed? Difficult to tell from the website

The head can be replaced but with tools the build quality is amazing very nice for the price

Hey, I know this is an old thread but just hoping Dwarak is still watching this one :). I'm in the market and currently looking at the C2690TB1 travel angel and would just like to know whether the 5 leg sections are sturdy enough. I'm leaning towards the C2690 because with the newer versions the 2690 is 41.5cm folded compared to the 2680 which is 45cm folded.

I would like it smaller as I'm taking it overseas for 3 months. I'll be pairing it with a Markins Q3T ballhead and RRS BR II LR clamp.

Kenji: Do consider Sirui as well. I have the benro C0691 which i purchased some time ago. After purchasing it i came across Sirui and i compared them side by side for the equivalent models. Sirui was better made and sturdier at a slightly cheaper price. I've recommended my friend Sirui since and everyone has been happy with it.

After shooting with my friends and comparing the tripods out in the field i've noted a couple of points.
Sirui has a nicer tripod angle locking mechanism.
Benro legs flexes more than Sirui for the same load.

I have a markin Q3T with QR on mine due to the benro ballhead failing (release plate fell apart and flew into the sydney river) after a bit of usage. Testament to crappy build quality. I'm on the verge of upgrading to a Gitzo. If you can afford it. Get the Gitzo instead.

I've placed my order for the Markins Q3T and RRS BR LR 2 QR clamp along with L -plate for 7D and lens plate for my 70-200 f2.8 IS USM II.

I know that you would have had some issues with the C0691 but that is quite a different tripod to the C2690T and C2680T. The leg diameters are very different with the C0691T having a minimum leg diameter of 9mm compared to 15mm of the C2690T and 18.5mm of the C2680T. I had a look at gitzo but I can't justify double the price for the 1541/2T which is rated to only hold 8kg compared to 12kg aswell as having a smaller minimum diameter of 12mm (i think). The GT2540T is even more expensive at 3 - 3.5 times the price but is the one that has the same specs as the C268/9 tripods.

I know the build quality will be better (you do get what you pay for) but I still think the benro is the best performance for your dollar. I'll definitely have a read up on the Sirui now that you've mentioned it. But at of this moment I think I'll be going with the C2680T just for a thicker last leg section of 18.5mm.

So how about showing us some photos that you take with all this gear? After all, this is AusPhotography, not AusCameraGear.:D

Saw your post this morning on my way to class and work, so I took my camera bag with me. Was planning to upload a few pictures but upon pluggin in my usb card reader, I found it to be broken. Sigh. I'll upload some when I get home late tonight unless I can find another card reader at work :)

I considered the RRS clamp as well but found out that due to the oversized design of the clamp, the legs will not be able to fold in properly (travel angel method of inverse folding) and will stick out a little thus not fitting into the tripod bag. Also as the clamps are not adjustable, you'r stuck with RRS/Wimberly or replica dimensions. I spent $40 for a camera plate for my 7D and 100mm lens plate for my 70-200 mm f2.8 II rather than needing to buy a RRS one or something along those lines. Saved me about $100+ which contributes to a 50 1.2L :D. Can't wait for the 5D mk3 to come out as well!

When i did comparisons i did it to the sirui equivalents at the same/cheaper price range. So the Sirui was better built and all generally.

I had a look at the Sirui N2204 which is equivalent to the benro C268/90 T travel angel. I believe it is better on paper, but doing a search on multiple forums there isn't much on them in the way of reviews. 6 years warranty is a nice bonus compared to 3 years from Benro. But again the tripod is approx 1.7 times more expensive ($250 v $425). I'm still not sure. More decisions to weigh up lol.

I have the Benro C2691T Travel angel with the B1 head, I made the decision on several factors
As I am reasonably tall, the 1660mm Max height appealed, folds up to 450mm and weighs 1.74kgs, great for travel, easily packed in cargo luggage ,
load is 12kgs, but the deciding factor for me was the detachable leg that is then a monopod that you can put the ball on,
with a height of 1390mm it is great for hiking and cityscape where you don't want a full tripod,
I probably haven't pushed it to extremes, but I have been very happy so far, ball has held nicely

Very interesting. If that is the case I might give them a shot and see how it goes.

It's only a suggestion... as Benro could have bettered their QC for all i know. Best is to compare them physically, which my friends did as well and they went with sirui instead. :)

Take care mate!

I'm happy that you suggested Sirui KeeFy, as I think it is better suited for me. I've searched and found some nice reviews and I think I will give the N2204 a try.
