I've been planning on doing some Film Noir shots for a while. So we went out to play around with light and shadow the other night at South Bank in Brissie using the lights near the Nepalese Temple.

Interesting shot.
Is that colour or black and white?

Colour. I use colour so I can play with desaturation. For the photos I also played with sepia tones, tinting - silent film style - and different levels of desaturation on the different channels. I'm looking at using a partially desaturated scheme with certain colours emphasised - either for character or mood - for one of the next shoots in the series. Next shoot will be playing with backlighting, shadows and night-time exposures on distant characters.
Its certainly different.. I like #2 best.
Thank you. That's my second favourite from the night. For my favourite I'm working on a 1930s vaseline on the lens look since that style has been burned into my brain thanks to Fred Astaire and Ginger Roger's musicals.
I like! These shots can be hard to get right, but you have done a better than average job. Congrats. Should have posted in the portraits.
Thanks I can see the flaws too much for me to post into the portrait section, eg needing more lighting to show details as light and shadow are very tricky to get right but especially the eye on the first one - though making both eyes black in a different pose will work really well for a pulp or UFO conspiracy shot.
Great use of light... or lack of!!!
