Creating a Border around Photo

Is there someone out there that can tell me (in simple terms), how to add a border to your image. I have Elements 6 that I work with and have just basic Photoshop knowledge. Thanks:rolleyes:

try increasing the canvas size (image > canvas size) by the amount you'd like the border to be. The border will end up being the same color as your background color (or is it foreground color, I can never remember)...
