View Full Version : The perils of travelling on country roads in Tassie!
.....especially when the cows need moooooving.
Michael and I were on our way to Sheffield and got slightly held up by this herd of cows....so, how else to pass the time but take some pics. I probably should have gotten out of the car to take them, but Michael threatened to leave me behind if I did.:D
First one shows them in absolutely no rush,
the second proves I wasn't the only one who spotted a photo opportunity
.... and the third....well, the cows obviously got a bit bored as well LOL
lol yeah that would slow down traffic lol

Hehe, not hard to tell the non-farmers amongst us. ;) That girl was just bullin' in photo 3 and would've have been serviced by the next morning (bull or AI).
Nice photos though, of a healthy Holstein-Friesian herd. :)

....that explains the twinkle in her eye! :D
When u think you have seen it all on AP, up comes a cow with a twinkle in the eye and another looking for the mounting yard... classic shots Lani.:th3:

To be honest, Lani, I can't remember exactly where. I visited a friend in Longford and then drove back down through the lakes area - so about somewhere in the middle is the best I can do!
Surprisingly, it didn't take that long! After stopping to take the shot, I just continued driving. Sheep being sheep, as soon as I started to move towards them, they very considerately moved out of the way! :D Drove very slowly for about a kilometre and then I was through.

Love the twinkle in the eye :th3:
i miss the country... great shots to bring back a few memories. Used to work on a dairy farm in Smithton NW tassie. winter at 4am for the first milking was quite hard, but really enjoyed the experience, long way away from what i do now though, computer programmer...
That is a world apart Allann....gee, 4 am starts in Smithton in winter would freeze the....well, it would be really cold. :D
Thanks Mary-Anne. :)

God I love Tassie!
I have been involved with moving a lot of sheep with my uncle who runs a sheep farm with 5500 sheep. Great times. Great pics too Lani. Love the twinkle in the eye :)
So funny!!! Glad you had your camera
Ah! So Tassie's like New Zealand, more sheep than people? Or do they just sound the same? :D
Thanks for the comments guys, glad they gave you a giggle. :)

Nice shots Lani. When we go up north we have to contend with wild goats and cattle, never mind the kangaroos as well. :)
