Julie, this is a great learning site. Not just for canon users but all SLR brands. Everyone shoud have a look there is information on everything from inserting SD/CF cards to lens choice. Mods. check it out.

Interestingly enough the same site has the firmware updates for the canon cameras too (all other international sites just seem to redirect there LOL).

Thanks for posting the link (over a year ago but still relevant). I have just checked out the site and agree it is quite good for newbies, it explains all the basic concepts in easy to understand language and has diagrams and pictures to help you understand what the different settings do.
