Hi all,
Bit of a last call for help here, knowing there are some of the best photographic minds I have encountered on this forum.
Here's a quick rundown-
Yesterday I had my Canon EOS R set up on a tripod and through my own stupidity, managed to knock it over and it fell onto rocks and a shallow stream. For better or worse, this was not the worst fall this camera has had, nor was it anywhere near as wet as it's been before.
There was no physical damage to the camera or lens, however, when I turn the camera on now the LCD screen flashes for half a second before it goes black, and I can see nothing. The EVF hasn't worked for even a split second since the fall. Otherwise, the camera still works and takes photos in the Modes that I can see on the top screen. So I can still take photos, but I can't see what I am taking photos of, nor can I choose a focal point etc.
I took the camera into a camera shop today and they actually got the video function working. So, using the top screen, I can change the Mode to video by pressing the Mode & Info button, and amazingly, video works fine (jeez I wish it was the other way round!!). But when I click back to Camera Mode, LCD and viewfinder are both blank.
I know I have to send the camera in for repairs, but I am going away to Broughton Island with my brothers this coming weekend and am a tad devastated that it looks like I'm not going to be able to bring this camera long.
Just wondering if anyone out there might have some cheeky little nugget of info that might offer up any kind of solution, even if temporary, just to get the camera working for the weekend.
Even a Hard factory reset for the EOS R? Does anyone know how to do it, as it seems very hard to find info on how to do it.
Thanks in advance for any help at all.
