I came across this video today...

It's ~8 min long, with the topic he's referring to coming in at about the 3:55 mark.

At the end he asks some questions about photography.

Have a look @:

Have a say...:confused013

Yikes, we will no longer be able to believe anything we see. The results are incredible. Of course if you want you or family/friends in the photo it wouldn't be any use, however, I've no doubt they'll have the option to include them in the future.

I think professional photographers are already under siege from the very capable cameras now available to the general public but if I was getting married again I would definitely want a real, experienced professional recording the event. The same would be true of news organisations, the advertising industry and other organisations where quality visual inputs are vital.

Likewise, on my holidays I would want to record what actually interested me with the lighting, background etc which was present in that moment. I would not want an idealised version of my subject generated by some algorithm.

The old adage that "the camera never lies" went out of the window years ago and there have been many arguments about the extent to which it is acceptable to manipulate photographs via Photoshop and other programmes. This new program's main use, I think may be that it is a bit easier to use than existing programmes and its potential for overuse is therefore greater.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

M A, what...? Doesn't the video work?

Colin. It's not the hapless camera that lies, but what gets done afterwards, like you say.

Imagine on AP: Thanks for the CC, Colin. I talked Dall E into reducing noise and adding some
contrast as you suggested...:p:p:p

-- And, I wonder if it's suppose to be pronounced like (Salvador) Dali...:confused013

Ok, it played for me. All doom and gloom for photography? I think not, change yes but currently I'm more concerned about having a black out while trying to charge my camera battery. The hobby photographer is being squeezed out of the market by cameras that have become too complex and expensive, by manuals that make no sense, by editing programs that lock you in paying till the day you die. As for instantly believing anything we see or hear today, that would be very unwise and has always been unwise.
