Agreed, Mark. Even though I understand it all only too well.

For me, composition of form and colour is far more important, as is an understanding of how one's camera works, and the basics about focus and exposure (relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO).

Thanks Am, that was an interesting read, although it will take some time for this stuff to percolate through my brain and become working knowledge.:)

I can see that there are real world applications for this stuff, based on my recent results of shooting distant Grebes with my 7D Mk II and EOS R - the 7D Mk II placed more pixels on the birds, hence resolved more detail and texture in the feathers.

Am, I just read it, and agree with it.

You are right - I really didn't need to read yet another 'pixels on the duck' article, but it is clearly explained why smaller sensors with similar or more megapixels can have more resolution than bigger sensors with a similar MPx count.

Of course, a lot depends on the lens too.
